Highlighted: the advantage on this criterion. Computed from each vendor’s cheapest plan that includes the API, one answer being one prompt on one engine. Scraping APIs return the raw answer; GEO APIs include computed metrics; for platforms we assume daily runs. US dollar prices only; euro and pound prices are on each review. How do API for GEO and Profound charge?

API for GEO sells credits: one prompt, run once, on one engine, in one locale, with every metric included. The first tier costs $0.013 per credit, which makes $13 for 1,000 answers, with no monthly minimum, and credits never expire.

Profound publishes two plans: a free Trial without API access, and Enterprise at a custom price. The API, SDKs and MCP server are listed for Enterprise only.

Which engines does each one cover?

API for GEO lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Claude, Copilot and Grok on apiforgeo.com, and our hands-on test confirmed Gemini, Google AI Overviews, DeepSeek and Meta AI on 26 October 2026.

Profound lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek, and says it captures them in the browser, as users see them.

Can an agency resell the data?

Yes with API for GEO: its terms present reselling as an intended use, as long as you do not sublicense direct API access. No with Profound: its Master Subscription Agreement forbids distributing, selling or sublicensing the services and limits use to internal business purposes.
